I'm home

How I love being in Michigan. And this year I get to be in my house. Every time I walk in the door, I greet it with a "hello cute house". It is a lovely house with wood beam ceilings and a wonderful deck that I eat breakfast on every morning and sit on at night to watch fireflies. My absolute favorite thing to do, however, is sit and listen to the wind rustle the leaves in the trees (and we have a lot of mature trees so they are really tall and full of leaves). I'll stop everything and say to Kase, "shhh, listen..." and he'll placate me and stop what he's doing and listen. (I think he's getting kind of sick of it though, because I do it a lot.) And everything is green. Grass and trees make things seem so much cleaner and the sun not going down until well after 9 p.m. makes the days seem so much longer. There are some downsides to Michigan though, believe it or not. The two things that I prefer Arizona to Michigan are 1) the amount of roadkill in rural Michigan is heartbreaking and 2) bugs. Now, I don't mind bugs in general; I'm actually fascinated with most bugs, but I hate bugs crawling on me, or worse, biting me. Oh, and I miss the lizards (and even the snakes). I guess that is the trade off for deer?

PS - Facebook friends, it was a Princess Bride reference. Get your mind out of the gutter.
